Appointments
Appointment System
Our appointments are released every morning at 8:30 and can be booked by calling the practice at this time. We have a new phone system which allows you to be placed in a queue or request a call back at busier times.
On The Day Appointments
We are using an "on the day" system for appointments as during the past few years, we have found that this gives the greatest appointment availability, partly due to high rates of patients not attending pre-booked appointments. These are for routine and urgent matters.
Please be aware that when calling the practice, our highly trained staff may redirect you to a more apppropriate service such as the local pharmacist, opitician and dentist. This is to ensure that GP and ANP appointments are utilised for the most appropriate conditions.
Emergency Appointments
When all routine appointments for the day have been used, the phone message will change to advise you of this. We have the capacity to see urgent emergency appointments when routine appointments are full but please be advised that these may be triaged by the on call doctor and are not for any routine matters.
During busier periods or staff shortage, we may only be able to deal with urgent on the day matters. You will be advised by the phone message or staff on these days. This is to ensure priority is given to conditions that cannot wait.
Pre-bookable Appointments
We do have pre-bookable telephone appointments available. Our admin team can advise you if you think this might be suitable.
Time-Keeping
Please note some appointments inevitably take longer than others, please be patient if you are kept waiting beyond your appointment time. We cannot guarantee that latecomers will be seen if you have missed your appointment time.

Extended Hours
Pre-bookable extended hours appointments are available - please speak to our admin team to see if this would be suitable for your appointment.
Home Visits
It is safer and more efficient for patients to attend the GP practice for an appointment to see the relevant health care professional. We would encourage all patients to attend if possible. If you feel you may need a home visit, please note that this will be triaged by the on call doctor and other options may be discussed with you. We can only provide a home visiting service to patients who are housebound either long term or temporarily.
House visiting may take at least 3 times as long as an appointment due to travel so we ask that you call as early as possible if you think this may be needed to allow us to allocate time/resources for this.
Text Reminder Service
We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments. We also use this to communicate important information and to contact you for annual reviews.
Please remember to update your contact details with us when you change address, telephone numbers and email address.
Please contact the practice if you would like to opt out of this service.
Training Practice
We are a training practice for GP trainees and we also have regular medical students on placement.
Medical Students
The Practice is frequently involved in the teaching of medical students. These are 4th and 5th year students from the University of Glasgow Medical School. Each student attends the practice for a five week attachment. They participate in consultations and at times lead the consultation with one of the doctors observing and assisting. You will be advised at the time of making your appointment if a student will be in attendance.
If you do not wish them to be present, please let us know at the time you are making your appointment or when you arrive for your appointment. This will not in any way affect your treatment.
Video Recordings
As a training practice video recordings are sometimes made of consultations. These are made for teaching purposes only. Video recordings are only done with your consent and you do have the right to refuse. However, we would stress that all aspects of general practice, including training, are governed by rules of strict confidentiality.
No examinations are filmed.
We greatly appreciate your help and co-operation with our medical student training.
